Compromise, tradeoffs, lead to barf bag

For some of us the last month of the year tends to be bitter sweet. The birth of Christ is honored and families getting together are a good thing. But realize there are strings attached in this ‘vida loca.’ The enemy isn’t focused on you. The odds are more in your favor to survive his attack. With that knowledge satan knows he missed his best chance, so now his primary focus is on your children.

Years ago when my pastor told us this it sent a chill through the congregation. Flash forward to today, I’m seeing the madness. Last month my kids were watching a christmas cartoon from video on demand. Even though I wasn’t watching it with them, within a 30 minute span I could hear in the background, the promotion of yoga, the queen of heaven, happy holidays, and that old yule  being regurgitated over and over. In my mind I was like, “Even yoga is scripted in a cartoon for children?” And of course, not one mention of Yeshua to keep up with ‘the times.’ I asked my wife who was in the adjacent room, “Are you following what they’re watching?

Our kids are very young, and their eyes are beginning to open that christmas time is different. We shut the TV off and reminded them “Not in this house!” It’s bad enough commercialism is off the charts in December, but pagan symbols being targeted toward innocent children is where believers have to draw a line.

Even though scheduled flights have a high chance of getting cancelled in December, I’m beginning to see why some people despite it all will even attempt to fly into a blizzard to get out of dodge. Perhaps it’s more to it than just visiting family for yuletide cheer? Could it be after laboring all year long with folk who claim to know The Bible, these very folk will engage in what the prophet Jeremiah warned about? For non-Christians astute in tree worship, I wonder if they’re looking at the Church and they can’t help but to snicker at us? Giving them the benefit of the doubt do they even have pity on us?

In 2019, there’s no time to be idol with your family. Ban the subliminal cartoons period! Especially if you’re raising young naive men, based on all the garbage that can get a dude caught up. Unless they’re singing doo wop, there should be no excuse for them hanging out on a street corner or sitting on front porch all day long reminiscing. Get them inside behind closed doors where they can harness a skill and become productive. A journeyman scholarship will serve them far better than an Xbox. Also keep in mind nothing good can come from wasting precious time hanging out on the streets with your buddies. Especially if a homicidal parolee with nothing to lose is searching for his next target.

Wake up to the traps in sheep’s clothing, and put your foot down, for your kids’ sake. Mirror The Bible instead of fueling centuries of idolatry. Thank God for the family He’s given you, but most importantly thank Him for the Best Gift Ever, Jesus The Messiah, regardless of the alleged time He was born.
